Grease: The Official Video Game - Review

Grease: The Official Video Game
Rating: E-10+ - Everyone 10+

Grease, the movie is so jubilant that it carries the game. Before each game performance, there is a small clip of the part of the movie that it comes from. That done, puppet-like avatars of the characters hand jive, sing and dance the routine - blissfully they do not move their mouths. You really wouldn't want to compete with the real John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as you try to keep up with the pitch bars. Dancing uses the balance board where, in moving left, right, forward and backward, all you have to do is shift your weight. Something Wii Fit users already know. Scores are kept and there are up to eight personality player slots. There are a number of mini-games which involve using the remote to do things like tightening a wheel, shooting hoops and spray painting. You will find all the usual songs here, Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee, Greased Lightnin' - the whole lot.

It makes you want to go out and rent the movie. So why the game? Because you can't dance and sing watching the movie. Lots of characters from the movie make for a fine party with scoring for many contestants. While you can be whomever you want - the performances are done using the actual characters. Don't do this alone - this is a party game.
